Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup Water Provides moisture to create the dough.
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted Butter Adds richness and flavor; ensures a smooth consistency.
  • a pinch Salt Enhances the flavor of the dough, balancing sweetness.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Main structure; perfect for achieving that chewy texture.
  • 2 Eggs Bind the ingredients together and give the churros volume and lightness.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Enriches the dough with a warm, aromatic flavor.
For Air Frying and Coating
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil Spray Prevents the churro bites from sticking in the air fryer.
  • 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar Coating that adds sweetness and a delightful crunch.
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon Provides the classic churro flavor, enhancing warmth and spice.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Medium saucepan
  • Piping bag
  • Star tip

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, ¼ cup of unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Mix until a smooth dough forms, pulling away from the sides of the pan, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Allow the dough to cool for about 5-10 minutes to prevent cooking the eggs. Once cooled, add two large eggs—one at a time—mixing vigorously after each addition until fully incorporated.
  4. Include 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, blending until the dough is smooth and glossy, ready to be piped into churro bites.
  5. Prepare a piping bag fitted with a star tip and fill it with the dough mixture. On a sheet of parchment paper, pipe small bites of dough, about 1 inch long, spacing them apart.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. While it heats up, lightly spray the air fryer basket with vegetable oil.
  7. Carefully place the piped churro pieces in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. Cook for 8-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove them from the air fryer and toss them in a mixture of ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon while still warm.
  9. Enjoy your air fryer churro bites warm, served plain or with dipping sauces.
