Step-by-Step Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped yellow onion and cook for about 5-7 minutes until translucent. Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for about 7-10 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Sprinkle in 1 packet of taco seasoning along with 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, and 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika. Mix thoroughly.
- Pour in ½ cup of water and stir, bringing to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, allowing it to thicken for about 10-15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to around 350-375°F. Fry corn tortillas one by one for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Fill each crispy shell with the seasoned beef mixture and top with your choice of toppings.
