Ingredients
  

For the Stir Fry
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil vegetable or canola oil recommended
  • 300 grams Korean fish cake look for 'Eomuk' sheets at Asian grocery stores
  • 1 medium onion yellow or white onions work great
  • 2 pieces green onion sliced; chives can be used as a substitute
  • 2 cloves garlic minced; using fresh cloves yields the best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil to finish the stir fry
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds optional garnish
For the Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce use gluten-free if required
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar maple syrup can be substituted
  • 1 teaspoon gochugaru spicy kick; can substitute with crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons water for sauce consistency

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a pan over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, allowing it to shimmer but not smoke.
  2. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 chopped onion to the pan. Stir for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Introduce 300g of Korean fish cake sheets into the pan. Stir gently for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle in 2 sliced green onions and stir for another minute.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of honey or sugar, 1 teaspoon of gochugaru, and 3 tablespoons of water.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the fish cake mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over the stir-fry and toss everything to combine.
