Cookie Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in egg, vanilla extract, and molasses; mix until fully combined.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
- Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
