Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of water and seasoning it with salt. Cook the penne according to package instructions for 10-12 minutes until al dente.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in heavy cream and simmer for 3-5 minutes, then add Parmesan cheese until melted.
  4. Season the sauce with black pepper and adjust salt if necessary. Add any optional veggies to the sauce.
  5. Combine the drained penne with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water if too thick. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan and black pepper.
