  • 3 medium Very ripe bananas Mashed until mostly smooth.
  • ½ cup Buttermilk Or mix ¼ cup milk with 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt the butter and whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract, and espresso powder.
  4. Mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
  5. Combine the wet and dry mixtures gently without overmixing.
  6. Add the mashed bananas and buttermilk to the batter, mixing gently until just blended.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and top with reserved chocolate chips. Bake for 55-65 minutes.
  9. Once baked, let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
