Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Cream together ½ cup of softened butter and ¾ cup of sugar until light and fluffy for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until creamy and slightly increased in volume, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup oats, 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with ½ cup milk.
  5. Gently fold in 1 cup chopped dates and 1 cup diced apples.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cake cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Drizzle warm toffee sauce over the cake before serving, if desired.
