Preparation and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, melt the butter and cool slightly. Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and espresso powder.
- Mash the bananas until mostly smooth with a fork and set aside.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in mashed bananas and buttermilk until evenly distributed.
- Fold in the chocolate chips carefully.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-65 minutes.
- Once baked, let the bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
