Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease the baking dish with butter.
- Cube the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and spread evenly in the prepared dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently press down to soak. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Add optional raisins or chocolate chips on top of the soaked bread.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or caramel sauce.
