Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by coring and slicing 4 Granny Smith apples into ¼-inch thick rounds.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine ¾ cup of milk, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture.
  4. Check your batter's thickness; it should coat the back of a spoon but not be overly runny. Adjust with more milk if necessary.
  5. In a large skillet, pour in about 1 inch of vegetable oil and heat to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Dip each apple slice into the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Once fried, transfer the slices to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
  8. Drizzle the warm apple slices with caramel sauce and sprinkle with toasted shredded coconut.
  9. Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top and optionally sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
