- In a medium saucepan, combine fresh strawberries, balsamic vinegar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and black pepper. Stir to coat strawberries and simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until thick.
- Remove from heat and mash strawberries if desired for a smoother texture. Let cool before transferring to an airtight container.
- Butter one side of each slice of chosen bread and lay out half with buttered side down for assembly.
- Spread cooled Strawberry Balsamic Jam on each buttered bread slice, add sliced brie cheese, then top with remaining buttered bread slices.
- Heat a skillet over medium-low heat, grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and brie is melted.
- Slice and serve, optionally garnished with freshly chopped basil.
