  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper Optional but recommended.
Sandwich
  • 4 slices Bread Sourdough or brioche works beautifully.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter For a crispy crust; use olive oil for a non-dairy option.
  • 8 ounces Brie cheese Choose creamy brie; can swap for Camembert or goat cheese.
  • ¼ cup Fresh basil Optional garnish for added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine fresh strawberries, balsamic vinegar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and black pepper. Stir to coat strawberries and simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until thick.
  2. Remove from heat and mash strawberries if desired for a smoother texture. Let cool before transferring to an airtight container.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of chosen bread and lay out half with buttered side down for assembly.
  4. Spread cooled Strawberry Balsamic Jam on each buttered bread slice, add sliced brie cheese, then top with remaining buttered bread slices.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat, grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and brie is melted.
  6. Slice and serve, optionally garnished with freshly chopped basil.
