Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan with softened butter and dust it lightly with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the large eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed until each is just combined before adding the next.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
- Wash and slice your fresh plums in half, removing the pits. Arrange the plum halves cut-side up over the batter.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon and optional sugar over the arranged plums.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes
To ensure a light, fluffy cake, avoid overmixing the batter. Choose firm, ripe plums for the best texture.
